In the years following Lenovo’s acquisition of Motorola, we have yet to see a smartphone that is both powerful and fun to use. We’ve been waiting a long time, especially in China, for an exciting model. The Motorola Edge S was finally released this year after a long wait. With the Snapdragon 870, the company hopes to reestablish itself in the smartphone market. As a result, it will be interesting to see how well the Motorola Edge S performs in real-world situations.
Motorola has thankfully decided to include a charger and cable even though the box is small. Notably, Edge S’s case Rosetta Stone Japan Download was not included in the box as a separate item. The screen and back cover have to host no oleophobic coating. After a few hours of use, the entire phone will be covered in fingerprints, leaving the display looking tattered. The bezels at the top and bottom are also quite large. There are plenty of phones in this price range that is more refined than this, yes. Unfortunately, the Edge S may fall short of your expectations if you’re looking for a phone that feels high-end.
I’m confident that people who buy this phone will take advantage of its powerful processor. There were issues with overheating with the Snapdragon 888 this year. Compared to other phones, the Nexus 5 performed admirably on Antutu Benchmark with a score of 640,000. The difference between it and the Snapdragon 660 in the Mi 11 is still quite pronounced. Game testing shows a smartphone’s accurate sustained performance output because benchmark testing only shows peak performance.
So, let’s fire up the handheld and start having some fun! PUBG, it should go without saying, was running at 60 frames per second almost all the time. After a recent update, Genshin Impact now works better with the Snapdragon 888. As an alternative, we have the re-tested Xiaomi Mi 11. The average frame rate of the Edge S is just 47 frames per second. The Mi 11, on the other hand, has a top frame rate of 53 frames per second.
In BrightRidge, the Edge S had a frame rate of 48 frames per second on average, while the Mi 11 had a frame rate of 52 frames per second. As a result, there is a discernible disparity in the results. However, in the real world, the Snapdragon 870 is the superior choice. As soon as the Snapdragon 888 starts to heat up, the frame rate drops noticeably. It’s not the case with the Snapdragon 870, though.
Good for Gaming:
The Edge S, on the other hand, reaches a maximum temperature of about 50°C. In contrast, the Mi 11 has a maximum operating temperature of 55°C. When you’re gaming, it’s difficult enough to keep your grip on the phone. So, as a gaming phone, I still think the Edge S is excellent.
Next, we’ll examine the Motorola Edge S’s camera system. To begin, let’s take a look at the Edge S camera system. Each rear camera has its function, such as depth of field (DOF), ultra-wide-angle (UWA), portrait depth of field (PDF), and a TOF (time of flight) lens. With natural colors, the primary camera’s daytime performance is respectable. Except for the highlights and the purple-fringing issue, which could have been handled better, the camera performance was above average for a phone of this price.
The show isn’t as good at night as it is during the day. The highlights are blown out, the dark details are masked, and there is visible noise. The exposure imbalance is improved by using night mode, but all other issues remain.
If you’re recording at night, you’re good to go. However, keep in mind that low-light video quality will be poor. We also put the camera through its paces in Ultra-Res mode. This mode generates images with a resolution of 64 Megapixels. However, there isn’t much of a difference in sharpness compared to photos taken with a 16MP camera.
There are no significant differences in performance when comparing the ultra-wide camera to the primary camera, although the purple fringing is much more pronounced during the day. The ultra-wide camera’s low-light performance is inferior to that of the primary camera, and the ultra-wide camera lacks a night mode. If you want to use an ultra-wide camera, stay away from dark areas and focus on brighter ones.
Macro shots can also be taken with the ultra-wide lens. The pictures are excellent. However, it would be best to shoot with a steady hand due to the lack of an optical image stabilization system (OIS).
Extraordinary Battery Performance:
Because the phone’s back is made of plastic, you might be perplexed as to why it’s so heavy. It’s because it has a massive 5000mAh battery. However, battery capacity alone does not determine how long a device will last on a charge; optimizations also play a role. 1080p internet video consumes 14% of the time, web browsing consumes 11%, Genshin Impact uses 12% of the time, and BrightRidge uses 13% of the time during an hour-long session. Generally speaking, going one day without charging will not be a problem.
There is a 20-watt limit on charging power, however. In half an hour, you’ll be up to 37% charged, and an hour later, you’ll be at 88%. It takes about two hours to charge the device completely, which is a significant amount of time. Getting the Edge S fully charged can be a hassle if you forget to charge it before bed.
